Home / Our Programs / Suicide Bereavement Support Group

The Suicide Bereavement Support Group (SBSG) is a Lifeline North Coast initiative created to support adults who have lost a loved one to suicide. Grief after suicide is often complex and isolating — this group offers a safe, compassionate space to connect with others who truly understand.

About the Group

The SBSG is designed for people in the Mid North Coast region seeking support after a suicide bereavement. The group offers understanding, comfort, and connection in a non-judgemental, stigma-free environment.

  • When: Second Monday of each month
  • Time: 6:00pm – 8:00pm
  • Where: Lifeline North Coast, 2/115 West High Street, Coffs Harbour
  • Cost: Free of charge
  • Duration: Ongoing — attend monthly or as needed after registration

Joining the Group

Participation begins with a confidential 45-minute orientation with an SBSG facilitator. This meeting helps:

  • Offer immediate support and suggest referrals if needed
  • Explain the group structure, expectations, and goals
  • Complete your confidential registration

What to Expect

  • A small, supportive group (up to 8 people) guided by two trained facilitators, each with lived experience of suicide loss or related crisis
  • Monthly topics addressing the emotional, practical, and social aspects of suicide bereavement
  • A space where you can share, or simply listen — there is no pressure to speak until you’re ready
  • Resources and information tailored to the group’s needs and updated regularly
Grieving after suicide is unique — but you don’t have to face it alone.
SBSG is here to walk alongside you on the path toward healing.
